Meet Tan
Fifty-five years of baking, one wee book.
I grew up on a small dairy and sheep farm on the Kintyre peninsula in Scotland, where baking and cooking were part of everyday life. Born Catherine, I renamed myself "Tan" because of a childhood speech difficulty, a nickname I proudly kept.
More than 55 years on, I'm still baking, experimenting and learning. For over a decade I've shared what I know through baking demonstrations, first around my own kitchen table and later on social media.
This book is a lasting record for my family, and for everyone who wants to bake along with me. Every recipe is written as though I'm right there in your kitchen with you — clear, step by step, with a video so you can see exactly what's happening at each stage. My hope is that it gives you the confidence to have a go. And don't worry if it doesn't work out first time. That's baking.
